Objectivists call for the outright renunciation of religion as the key to liberty. The blue buttons point to ebooks resolving this conflict. Some surprisingly libertarian components of Old Testament Law. Why imposing Christian standards of morality on the entire populace is an inherent contradiction. Why democratically elected government can never be a force for moral excellence. Warning: the books relating Christianity and government are solidly based on the Bible, more so than many popular Christian doctrines. This means heavy reading and possibly upsetting revelations. If you love freedom but find libertarianism to be too extreme and/or simplistic, you have come to the right place. Here you will find a much more palatable freedom vision, more practical and more utopian than standard brands of libertarianism. Granted, when I started this site, I was a libertarian, an active member of the Libertarian Party, and was trying to craft a more politically acceptable version of libertarianism.
The very idea of Holistic Politics is in direct defiance of Murray Rothbard’s doctrine that all values should be subservient to cutting government. Ayn Rand’s ethics of rational self-interest is incompatible with a free society. Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard and the other Austrian school praxeologists derive way too much from crude approximations of human nature. Murray Rothbard’s derivation of no-compromise anarchism is seriously flawed. Most schools of libertarianism start with an incomplete set of natural rights. Libertarianism does not maximize freedom; it ignores important aspects of freedom. The freedom vision on this site results in more freedom even though it allows for compromise. These are hard lessons, I know. It took me decades to learn them all. Rand and Rothbard wrote powerful prose, siren songs for those who inherently love liberty. I was beguiled myself for many years, but my love of debate kept me out of the echo chambers, and I slowly learned
a separate imperium within the framework of federal and state governments, which was inconsistent with loyalty to them. Quite plausibly it was argued that the Masons had set up a jurisdiction of their own, with their own obligations and punishments, liable to enforcement even by the penalty of death. So basic was the conflict felt to be between secrecy and democracy that other, more innocent societies such as Phi Beta Kappa came under attack. Since Masons were pledged to come to each other’s aid under circumstances of distress, and to extend fraternal indulgence at all times, is was held that the order nullified the enforcement of regular law. Masonic constables, sheriffs, juries, and judges must all be in league with Masonic criminals and fugitives. The press was believed to have been so “muzzled” by Masonic editors and proprietors that news of Masonic malfeasance could be suppressed. At a moment when almost every alleged citadel of privilege in America was under
millennium might come in the American states. Everything depended, in his judgment, upon what influences dominated the great West, where the future of the country lay. There Protestantism was engaged in a life-or-death struggle with Catholicism. “Whatever we do, it must be done quickly. A great tide of immigration, hostile to free institutions, was sweeping in upon the country, subsidized and sent by “the potentates of Europe,” multiplying tumult and violence, filling jails, crowding poorhouses, quadrupling taxation, and sending increasing thousands of voters to “lay their inexperienced hand upon the helm of our power. The 16th amendment is also at cross purposes with amendment 9, which guarantees freedom from the denial of rights guaranteed by the constitution. One could make other arguments, but the people need none. The 16th amendment is poorly written, unfairly implemented, and a traitorous article. And the people who wrote that article should be tried for treason, as should any citizens who seek to implement the 16th amendment. The federal government is responsible for tariffs and duties; that is the method by which they are supposed to raise moneys for the furtherance of the Union. Income tax was declared unconstitutional in the 1890s by the Supreme court. It was snuck in as necessary to supporting the First World War. Any elected official who has not sought to repeal the 16th amendment should be treated as a traitor. Immediately following is the language of the 16th amendment. ‘The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without
apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration. This is a wide open article, with no controls or regulations, and it was designed so that certain people could declare war upon the sovereigns of the United States. I listened very intently as the President made his passionate plea for Congress to act on and pass the current health care legislation. He spoke of the plight of millions of people who are currently without health insurance. He also spoke about those that have serious medical conditions that either prohibit them from getting coverage or are in jeopardy of loosing coverage. There’s no doubt that these stories tug at the heartstrings of every American. The President also made a statement that really hit me in a very profound way. He said that the America people are waiting for them [the federal government] to act. Moreover, that our future, yours and mine, depends on whether or not they act. With all do respect, Mr. President,
For decades, this issue has been silenced, suppressed, evaded, and hidden under the foggy, undefined rubber-terms of “conservatism” and “liberalism” which had lost their original meaning and could be stretched to mean all things to all men. It is political philosophy that sets the goals and determines the course of a country’s practical politics. But political philosophy means: abstract theory to identify, explain and evaluate the trend of events, to discover their causes, project their consequences, define the problems and offer the solutions. Politics is based on three other philosophical disciplines: metaphysics, epistemology and ethics—on a theory of man’s nature and of man’s relationship to existence. It is only on such a base that one can formulate a consistent political theory and achieve it in practice. When, however, men attempt to rush into politics without such a base, the result is that embarrassing conglomeration of impotence,
