But what we do not realize is that we have also been like the second frog. Slowly, our environment, our home, has been changing but we have been too busy, too complacent to notice it. It took us two typhoons to realize that “hell yeah, the wrath of Mother Nature can really kill us. The next time it happens, sad to say, we might not be so fortunate. The next calamity might not spare any of us, not even us who are typhoon-free here in Davao City. A scarier thought would be if it would not be a calamity but a series of unnoticeable, seemingly insignificant events that will lead to our death. The time to care and take action is now. The Post could then sell franchises to many other small operations in its home region and beyond. Its brand would be bigger than ever but its business and employee commitments would be minimal. If one firm under-performed, there would be no need for layoffs or buyouts – just find a competitor, franchise them instead and resume operations. Under the above plan, The Washington Post newspaper would no longer be a centralized organization. It would operate more like a general contractor in the construction industry. It would have a small central staff of editors, supervisors and marketing personnel who would coordinate with a network of smaller subcontractors that produce content and receive the Post imprint. Most important of all, by maintaining revenues and cutting both

As usual Hudson is very astute in noting that nobody on the mainstream Left or Right has any intention except to enrich the Elites. If you’ve been reading S. Meanwhile, Mexico appears on the verge of collapse and things are so bad that some Mexican television stations are reporting the possibility of a US invasion. Don’t believe me?  Well check it out for yourself. And if you are Hugo Chavez or Evo Morales, I wonder how it makes you feel to think about the US putting its weapons of war that much closer to their states. Meanwhile some folks are saying that we need to be worried about the use of the US military within the US. He thinks the economic situation is so bad that

When a worker gets sick or a child or parent gets sick; when a woman is giving birth or when a parent needs to go to a conference with a teacher, leaving work can not only cost a day's pay, but it can cost advancement in a career. Women, who do most of caregiving, are particularly disadvantaged. It was joined and used by a great many men who did not fully share its original anti-Masonic feelings. It attracted the support of several reputable statement who had only mild sympathy with its fundamental bias, but who as politicians could not afford to ignore it. Still, it was a folk movement of considerable power, and the rural enthusiasts who provided its real impetus believed in it wholeheartedly.     As a secret society, Masonry was considered to be a standing conspiracy against republican government. It was held to be particularly liable to treason—for example, Aaron Burr’s famous conspiracy was alleged to have been conducted by Masons. The very idea of Holistic Politics is in direct defiance of Murray Rothbard’s doctrine that all values should be subservient to cutting government. Ayn Rand’s ethics of rational self-interest is incompatible with a free society. Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard and the other Austrian school praxeologists derive way too much from crude approximations of human nature. Murray Rothbard’s derivation of no-compromise anarchism is seriously flawed. Most schools of libertarianism start with an incomplete set of natural rights. Libertarianism does not maximize freedom; it ignores important aspects of freedom. The freedom vision on this site results in more freedom even though it allows for compromise. These are hard lessons, I know. It took me decades to learn them all. Rand and Rothbard wrote powerful prose, siren songs for those who inherently love liberty. I was beguiled myself for many years, but my love of debate kept me out of the echo chambers, and I slowly learned

Here’s how I think the State Board of Education should determine what counties to grant waivers to.
